Rentul is a venue, not a party to your rental

Rentul LLC ("Rentul") connects renters and lenders. Every rental is an agreement directly between the two people involved. Rentul is not the owner, the renter, or a party to that agreement. We do not take possession of items, deliver them, inspect them, or supervise the hand-off.

What we do not verify or guarantee

  • We do not verify users. We do not run background checks and do not confirm any person's identity, age (date of birth is self-reported), or trustworthiness. Campus is self-declared and is not verified, there is no student verification and no identity verification, and any badge or label in the app is not a guarantee about a person.
  • We do not inspect items or verify their condition. Photos and descriptions are provided by lenders. We do not confirm that an item is safe, functional, authentic, legal, or as described.
  • We do not guarantee anyone's conduct — that a lender will show up, that an item will be available, that a renter will return an item, or that either person will behave honestly or safely.
  • We do not guarantee availability, pricing, or that any booking will be honored.

No deposit, no coverage, no claims, no recourse

Rentul provides no financial protection to anyone, in either direction:

  • There is no security deposit. Rentul does not take, hold, or require a deposit on any rental.
  • There is no insurance and no protection plan of any kind — for items, injuries, or losses.
  • There is no claims process. You cannot file a claim for damage, loss, theft, a no-show, non-return, or an item that is not as described, and Rentul does not review or pay out on any such claim.
  • If something goes wrong, Rentul does not make anyone whole. A lender has no way through Rentul to recover for a damaged, lost, stolen, or unreturned item; a renter has no way through Rentul to recover for a defective, unsafe, or misdescribed item.

Your protection is to meet in a safe public place, inspect the item before you accept it, agree on condition and return with the other person, and keep your own records. If you want coverage, arrange your own. Any remedy for a rental gone wrong is between you and the other person, or through avenues outside the Service.

Payments

When you book, payments are processed by Stripe. Your card is authorized when you book (or when the lender accepts a request) and charged when the pickup is confirmed. Lenders are paid to their own Stripe account and are the merchant of record for the rental; payout timing follows Stripe's standard schedule. Rentul is not a bank and does not hold your money as a deposit-taking institution.

Refunds and chargebacks

  • Refunds are issued only by Rentul, case-by-case. There is no self-service refund and no cancellation window. Before pickup, either party can cancel and the authorization is voided with no charge; after pickup, only a Rentul-issued refund can return money.
  • Chargebacks (a dispute you raise with your card issuer) are decided by the card networks and banks, not by Rentul. If a renter charges back a captured rental, the amount paid to the lender is reversed, and the lender bears that loss unless the dispute is later resolved in the lender's favor. Rentul provides no separate recourse around chargebacks.

Your responsibility

Meet in a safe, public place. Inspect an item before you accept it. Agree on condition and return expectations with the other person. Keep your own records. Do not rent or lend anything prohibited or unlawful. You are responsible for your own decisions, safety, taxes, and legal compliance.

Reporting problems

You can report a listing or a person, and block anyone, from within the app. For help, contact [email protected] — you do not need an account to write to us. We aim to review reports within 24 hours.

Disputes are between users

Because the rental is between the renter and the lender, disputes about an item, its condition, payment, or conduct are between those two people. Rentul is not obligated to resolve disputes, provides no recourse or compensation, and is not liable for them.
